Introducing GREAT WRAP from MPS.

So MPS have been trying to compostable stretch film for a while, but unfortunately most options are either green washed claiming biodegradable while using harmful “OXO” additives which leave microplastics, additives which are now banned in most of the developed word. Or just plain too expensive for subpar products.

But now Great wrap has finally released their latest Industrial rolls and are taking on new distributors to get product to the market. Manufactured in Melbourne in solar-powered facilities, Great Wrap is a certified B Corp, reflecting its commitment to sustainability and ethical business practices.

Origin Story

Great Wrap are a B Corp Certified material science company on a mission to end the human reliance on traditional plastics. They are the only Australian made compostable stretch wrap manufacturer. Co-founders Julia and Jordy Kay started Great Wrap in 2019. At the time, Jordy was making natural wine, and Julia was an architect. They were both using a lot of pallet wrap in their respective industries and wondered how there wasn't already a solution to traditional stretch wrap. Knowing that traditional pallet wrap can take hundreds of years to break down in landfill was enough to get them started with Great Wrap. The Great Wrap team are driven by impact, fuelled by demand, and have a 10-yearvision for a world where plastic doesn't exist.

Great wrap compostable stretch film

Great Wrap’s Compostable Machine Wrap is made from compostable biopolymers and plant-based oils, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional petroleum-based stretch films. The wrap is 100% compostable, with the Machine Pallet Wrap certified to AS 4736 and DIN Certco standards. Designed for high performance, it delivers a recommended pre-stretch of up to 250% and is compatible with high-speed wrapping machines. When loading the film onto a pallet wrapper, it’s important to note that the wrap has a cling layer and a slip layer—the slip layer must always face outward to ensure proper performance. As the only Australian-made compostable stretch wrap on the market, Great Wrap stands out as a premium, locally produced solution for sustainable packaging.

With its higher density compared to some other films, Great Wrap offers excellent load containment while using less material. It is ideal for both industrial and home composting, breaking down within 180 days without leaving harmful residues. Even if disposed of in landfill, it still decomposes significantly faster than conventional plastic films and leaves no microplastics behind. This makes it a forward-thinking choice for businesses looking to reduce environmental impact without sacrificing wrapping speed, strength, or reliability.
