METAL STRAP TENSIONER

The MPS Standard Steel Strapping Tensioner is an economical yet reliable tool designed to tension steel strapping tightly around your goods. It’s a practical choice for small to medium timber yards, general warehouses, engineering workshops and scaffolding companies needing a dependable way to apply heavy-duty steel strap. This tool provides consistent tensioning performance and is well suited to day-to-day strapping tasks where durability and ease of use matter.

In this video we show our USA tensioner been used, the process is the same on the standard steel strapping tensioner, just at a reduced price.

This is a feedwheel ratchet tensioner, to be used on standard steel strapping where this is a flat or straight surface. A secondary sealer is required with use of this tensioner.

RATCHET STRAPPING TENSIONER

A ratchet tensioner is a manual strapping tool that uses a simple ratcheting mechanism to pull strapping tight around a load. As the operator moves the handle back and forth, the internal ratchet advances incrementally, gripping the strap and applying controlled tension with each stroke. This design allows the user to achieve high tension with minimal effort, making it suitable for securing heavy or irregularly shaped goods.

USE WITH SO SEALER

A steel strapping tensioner is used alongside a separate sealer and a pair of steel seals to create a complete, secure strap joint. The tensioner’s job is to pull the strap tight around the load, while the sealer and seals lock that tension in place.

In practice, the operator first loops the steel strap around the goods and places an open seal over the overlapping strap tails. The tensioner is then positioned on the strap, and the handle is ratcheted to draw the strap tight. Once the correct tension is reached, the sealer is applied directly over the steel seal. The sealer’s crimping jaws compress the seal onto the strap, biting into the steel and locking the joint so the strap can’t slip back. After the seal is crimped and the joint is secure, the tensioner is removed and the strap is trimmed if needed. This combination of tensioner, seal and sealer provides a strong, mechanical connection suitable for heavy-duty loads and industrial applications.
