The XST-36 is a cost effective battery strapping tensioner for small and midrange users looking to use a battery strapping tool for warehouse use or light duty timber applications. Its design is robust due to the simplification of its parts and mechanical design vs other tools.

How a Friction weld Strapping tensioner works

Battery friction-weld strapping tools are designed to tension, seal and cut plastic strapping in one fast, automated process. The overlapping PET or PP strapping is placed into the tool, the .strapping is tensioned Once the correct tension is reached, the user activated friction-weld system where a vibrating weld plate rapidly rubs the two layers of plastic strapping together. This friction generates heat, melting the surfaces of the strap. The tool then compresses the molten layers together under pressure, allowing them to cool and fuse into a strong weld joint without the need for metal seals. The result is a secure, consistent seal that maintains high joint strength while allowing operators to strap pallets, bundles, or heavy goods quickly and efficiently.

Friction weld is stronger than a seal

In our in-house testing using our break-testing machine, we have found that friction-weld seals typically retain around 80% of the original strapping strength, meaning only about 20% of the strap’s breaking strength is lost at the joint. By comparison, when PET strapping is used with a traditional metal gripper seal, the joint often retains only around 50% of the strap’s original strength. This demonstrates why friction-weld battery tools are widely preferred in modern strapping applications, as they produce stronger, more consistent joints while eliminating the need for separate seals.

Owning a MPS battery strapping tool

No battery-powered strapping tool is completely maintenance-free, so choosing the correct one for your volume and application is important. Over time, components such as microswitches can fail or wear parts may need replacement, but with the right support these issues can be quickly repaired to get the tool back in operation. What strapping does this battery friction weld tensioner use?

This tool can use 16mm PET and Polypropylene strapping. We only recommend the use of polypropylene strapping in black or heavy duty and not with standard hand or machine grade PP strapping.

Can this tool use Bosch Battieres?

Yes the XST-36 strapping tool can use the older but still current bosch Li-ion Batteries.(not PRO-core) we would recommend upgrading the batteries to Bosch where use can be quite heavy at one time.
