If you are experiencing a problem where you pallet wrapping just keeps spinning or turning indefinitely, then this pallet wrapper troubleshooting guide is for you.
We’ve put together some steps outlining possible causes of this problem to help troubleshoot you pallet wrapper issues
Do not that this sort of problem could also be related to an issue with the carriage of your pallet wrapper – if the info below doesn’t solve your problem, then we you can check out our guide “My pallet wrapper wont go up”.
Now some of these steps will require an experienced technician or maintenance person, so ensure you call one for anything beyond the basic troubleshooting steps with the control panel.
Check the bottom or top wrap counter
This is an easy step to check first – make sure that you check that the bottom (or top wrap) counter setting has not been changed. Someone could have just set it to an excessive number setting that is causing the issue.
If this has happened, you just need to change it back to a lower number.
On an ATLANTA Stretch pallet wrapper you can change F "function" to display 05 and then check what the V (value) is and adjust accordingly. See the panels below.
Check the mode of your pallet wrapper.
Many pallet wrappers have different modes of operation and it’s possible that this has been changed. If someone changed the wrapper from the normal cycle to a manual mode, it may just keep turning as the carriage is awaiting manual input so the machine won’t stop until the stop button is pressed.
If your ATLANTA STRETCH pallet wrapper reads F:01 & V 03 this is certainly your problem, change the value of Function one to be 1. This will turn back on full wrapping mode on and and down.
F:01 & V 03 refers to manual mode. where the photocell is disabled
Issue with the turntable sensor
Most pallet wrappers these days use an inductive sensor to position the turntable to the home position and count revolutions when wrapping your pallets. It is possible that the issue is related to this sensor and the turntable home sensor has been damaged or misaligned.
We would recommend following these steps:
- Stop the pallet wrapper, than attempt to reset the pallet wrapper or home the turntable using the keys to command. See your manual for specifics if your pallet wrapper is not an Atlanta Stretch Pallet Wrapper
- Otherwise on an ATLANTA button panel you can press can hold “RESET” and “TURNTABLE JOG” so button “E” And “H” at the same time – seen in the image below:
If you have an ATLANTA touch panel you can press button H to jog the turntable or the N button to send the turntable to its home position.
- If the pallet wrapper continues to spin indefinitely, the issue will likely be either:
- Sensor is misaligned - it may need to be moved closer to the part it senses to count or adjusted
- Bold or object sensor detects is misaligned, broken or missing.
- There is too much debris around the sensor
- The Sensor is damaged and it may need to be replaced
- The cable leading to the turntable sensor is damaged and it may need to be replaced or repaired
- Board is faulty or damaged (This is exceptionally uncommon on ATLANTA machines as the main logic board is separate to the power security relay PCB)
- If the pallet wrapper did in fact home correctly, your issue is likely not the home turntable sensor.

If this didn’t fix the problem.
Now if these steps didn’t help you identify the issue or fix your issue, the problem you're having with you pallet wrapper may be more complicated and it’s at this point that we would suggest calling your technician to fix the issue as efficiently as possible.
